An intense emotional potential for this highly accomplished work: a great tenderness in the lively eyes of the two characters with an extraordinarily attractive gaze. A wonderful, grand and fascinating presence for a simply brilliant creation. This bronze group, with a very intimate character, is the only known example of this subject, which gives it a unique character. GORI in bronze - old cast - creation from the ART NOUVEAU/DECO period - 1910/1920 - NO COPY - in perfect condition. AFFORTUNATO GORI: April 14, 1869 / 1925 in Paris.
Italian sculptor active from 1895 to 1925 - originally from Florence, Italy, where he studied sculpture under the direction of Auguste Rivalta. Then, like many Italian artists, he emigrated to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century to practice his art. He changed his name from Fortunato Gory to Affortunato Gori and began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902 with a bust of a young woman executed in bronze and marble. He presented his works there until 1923. Gori owes his success to graceful female sculptures as well as the combined use, sometimes, of materials: bronze and marble, alabaster or ivory.
