GEORGES-ABEL VAN DE VOORDE: born in 1878 in Kortrijk - Belgium and died in 1964 in Anderlecht - sculptor and medalist - was a student of Constant Devreese and Julien Dillens. He trained under Aida Victor Rousseau and worked in her studio for seven years. He later became the president of an Art Academy. He won the second Godecharle Prize in 1905 and participated in numerous international exhibitions.
He sculpted several important monuments, including a sculpture in memory of the war in Brussels, the sculpture of Peter Coutereel in Louvans, and a monument in white stone of Saint John Nepomucene in Kortrijk. He made many busts of celebrities that can be seen throughout Belgium, and occasionally liked to dedicate himself to themes such as old age.
