He traveled to Paris in the 1920s, where he joined the Fauvist painters in Montmartre and Montparnasse, such as Matisse, Dufy, and Gleizes, with whom he formed friendships. Transitioning from a Fauvist Expressionist style to Cubism, and ultimately to Abstraction towards the end of his short life. He even studied mosaic art in Ravenna. During World War II, he showed bravery and resistance in Corsica. After marrying a woman from Toulon, they settled in Saint Tropez, where this large painting was created.Their home became an important artistic meeting place. The New York gallery of Julien LEVY permanently exhibited the works of this artist alongside Braque, Picasso, and others.
