Born on July 20, 1903 in Paris, Lucienne Leroux is the daughter of Auguste Leroux and the sister of Madeleine and André Leroux. Lucienne Leroux was a student of Ferdinand Humbert. A landscape painter and nude painter in the traditional style, she is also credited with creating a ceiling design for the Opera in an Italianate style. In 1924, she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français in Paris. The following year, she won a silver medal at the Salon des Artistes français. She participated in the Prix de Rome in 1926, receiving an honorable mention for her painting "Nymphe endormie sous le regard du dieu Pan". The next year, she won the First Prize Roux at the Institut de France. In 1931, she began teaching in Dijon. In 1935, she was a resident at Casa Velázquez. In 1937, she won a silver medal at the international exhibition. She passed away in 1981. The painting is signed on the back "LUCIENNE LEROUX".
